Dr Georgia Ede
Georgia Ede is a board-certified psychiatrist specialising in nutritional and metabolic psychiatry. She earned her BS in biology from Carleton College, her MD from the University of Vermont, and completed psychiatry residency at Cambridge Hospital (a Harvard Medical School teaching affiliate) in 2002. She served as staff psychopharmacologist at Harvard University Health Services from 2007 to 2013, then as psychiatrist at Smith College from 2013 to 2018, before leaving clinical roles to focus full-time on writing, speaking and clinician training.
She founded Diagnosis Diet in 2012, where she catalogues evidence on how dietary patterns affect mood, anxiety and cognition. She co-authored the first inpatient study of the ketogenic diet for serious mental illness and developed the first medically accredited training course in ketogenic diets for mental-health practitioners. Her 2024 book "Change Your Diet, Change Your Mind" (Balance / Hachette) draws on her clinical work with ketogenic and animal-based diets in psychiatric patients. Ede is careful, evidence-led, and one of the few voices in this space who openly discusses what we do not yet know.
